The Lady Eagles volleyball program earned the first tournament title under new coach Erin McClanahan after sweeping the competition in the Forney High School Labor Day Tournament.

To get the week started, the Lady Eagles defeated Denton in three straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 31-29).

The Denton match highlights were:

Maddie Scarbrough: 16 digs

Meredith Bramer: 16 digs, 10 kills

Kaylee Cole: 10 digs

Ashley Brown: 7 digs, 32 assists

Abby Jameson: 13 kills.

In the Forney tournament the Lady Eagles went 6-0 defeating Lovejoy Junior Varsity (25-18, 25-17), Keller Timber Creek (25-14, 25-17) and Caddo Mills (25-13, 25-16) on the first day. On Saturday the team beat North Forney (25-12, 25-16), Newman Smith (25-12, 25-12) and Timber Creek (25-22, 25-21) for the second time in the finals.

Senior outside hitter Meredith Bramer led the attack in the finals with 9 kills, with junior right-side Abby Jameson notching 7 kills of her own. Brittany Wright, Kahla Watkins, and Ashley Brown all had 5 digs total to lead the Eagle defense.

This weekend, the Lady Eagles are off. They will host Bryon Nelson High School next Tuesday.
