The Lady Eagles have opened up their basketball season with one win and three loses, all against quality opponents. Last week the Lady Eagles beat Keller Central, 44-34, and lost to Keller 61-32.
New head coach James Rachal said he scheduled a tough pre-district lineup to prepare for the district season.
"To compete in our district, we need to compete against teams that will help us get ready to play against the best," Rachal said. "We have started our season off against three teams that are in 5A, and a 4A playoff team from last year."
The team is also missing three players that still playing on the Lady Eagles volleyball team, which will play in the state tournament this week.
Rachal said he loves the youth on this team.
"With a team comprised of only one senior, we are improving with every game and every practice. I feel like we will be peaking around the time that district comes. There is a different level that you have to go to when you are a varsity player. We may take some bumps and bruises to figure it out, but when we do, I see something special in our future.
Hannah Reynolds led the Lady Eagles against Keller with 8 point. Other scorers were Caroline Taylor 7, Bekah Arrendondo 6, Alexa Boushey 4, Monica Ordoney 4, and Logan Lantz 3.
This week the Lady Eagles will take part in the Allen Lady Eagle Hoopfest. They begin play on Thursday.
