After four district losses in a row, the Prosper Eagles were hungry for a win against the Little Elm Lobos Friday night. The Eagles satisfied their hunger for at least away as the team came away with a 41-27 win.
Prosper scored the first two touchdowns of the game but three consecutive drives with a fumble for the Eagles helped the Lobos to put up 24 unanswered points. But Prosper scored two more touchdowns late in the second quarter to go into halftime with a narrow 27-24 lead.
In the second half the Eagle defense held the Lobos in check as Zack English caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Chase Dawkins to secure the first district win for the Eagles.
Prosper’s offense rolled up 403 yards, including 237 on the ground. Marquez Houston gained 112 yards on 10 carries for the Eagles. Dawkins went 10-for-13 for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Houston and Dawkins also had a running touchdown each. English led the recovers with 4 catches for 87 yards and the two touchdowns.
The defense put plenty of pressure on the Lobos allowing only 271 yards mostly on the ground. Senior defensive back Tyler Webb had two interceptions during the game including one for a 76-yard touchdown with 30 seconds left in the first half.
The Eagles now will go back home next Friday to host Frisco Liberty in the final home game of the year.
Liberty lost to Frisco Heritage last week 48-24. The Redhawks only have one district win — a 22-18 win over Little Elm.
The kick-off for the game is 7 p.m. at Eagle Stadium in Prosper.
