From Staff Reports
The varsity Eagles soccer team scored the quickest goal in team history against Denison last week. Before the opening whistle was done ringing in the air, the Prosper Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead, just 20 seconds into the game. That set the tone for the game, and the team never looked back in a 6-0 win.
Throughout the first half, Prosper looked dangerous. They exploited the Yellow Jackets’ offsides trap time and again, tacking on two more goals before halftime. Like sharks sensing blood in the water, the Eagles came out for the second half still hungry to increase their lead. It took less than two minutes for them to find the back of the net for their fourth goal.
Denison tried to stay in the game, but solid play from Prosper’s defenders and goalkeeper kept them from getting on the scoreboard. Before the game ended, the Eagles put two more goals past the Yellow Jacket keeper.
The final score was 6-0 in favor of Prosper. The win brought the team’s overall record to 8-3-3 and 2-0 in district competition.
