From Staff Reports
Last Thursday night, the Prosper Eagles Varsity hockey team played host to Plano Senior Varsity at the McKinney Dr. Pepper Stars Center, winning by a score of 8-2. Three students representing RMS had points in the game including forward Zack Riley who led all scorers with 2 goals and one assist, forward Kyle Tilley with 1 goal and one assist, and defenseman Cole Turner with 1 goal and an assist. Captain Harrison Hood of PHS chimed in with two assists while other Eagles who scored included forward Huston Svondrk with 2 goals and defenseman Matt Brock with one goal and one assist.
The first of ten games to start the summer season was indeed an exciting one as Prosper came out ready to do battle with Plano. Although the first few minutes were even between both teams, a few coaching adjustments followed, which eventually led to Prosper drawing first blood Period 1. Eagle’s formidable defense kept Plano’s offense at bay for the entire game allowing Prosper forwards to shell the opposing goalie with a whopping 58 shots on net vs only 15 against Eagles goalie Carson Turner.
Despite 36 minutes of accrued penalties, Prosper regained composure to secure the first win of the season.
The next game is Thursday night at the McKinney Dr. Peppers Center at 8:15 p.m. against Denton County Varsity.
