The Eagles dropped their second district game in a row last Thursday night against a powerful Frisco Centennial, 40-20.
Prosper took the opening kickoff and after just two plays of 19 and 21 yards, had a first down at the Titan 34-yard line. On a third down, the Eagles completed a short pass but fumbled the ball. Centennial picked up the ball and returned into Prosper territory. Seven plays later Titan quarterback, Kelly Cordova ran in for a 4-yard score. Centennial took a 17-0 lead at the half and did not look back, piling on an additional 23 in the fourth quarter.
Prosper had two lost fumbles in the game.
Centennial had 522 yards in the game, while the Eagles managed only 315.
Chase Dawkins went 14-for-29 passing in the game for 118 yards and threw touchdowns. He also rushed 12 times for 71 yards. Marquez Houston, who was back after sitting out last week, had 15 yards for 125 yards in the game. Chris Jackson led the Eagle receivers with 2 catches for 33 yards and a touchdown. Jackson also had a 91-yard kickoff return for a score. Zach English had the other touchdown catch.
Cordova accounted for four scores on the night while passing for 359 yards and two touchdowns. He also gained 61 yards on the ground and two more scores. Kamari Burnett rushed 17 times for 111 yards and one score. Devin McCord was Cordova’s favorite target catching nine passes for 149 yards and two scores.
The loss drops the Eagles to 0-2 in district play.
This week Prosper travels back to Frisco for a game against Wakeland at FISD Memorial Stadium. Wakeland last week beat Frisco Heritage, 28-23, for it’s first district win. The Wolverines lost to Frisco in their district opener.
Wakeland has a nice ground game with two runners with more than 400 yards on the season. Quarterback Jackson Lamb has also passed for 681 yards and five touchdowns.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Frisco.
