The Eagles basketball program started the regular season last week two wins. On Wednesday, the Eagles beat Greenville 56-41 and Saturday the team beat Denton Ryan 38-29.
Coach Jonathan Ellis said the team is still trying to find some consistency.
"As you would expect early in the year, both games were like a roller-coaster ride," Ellis said. "We had some highs and lows, but the guys stood strong and made the plays that needed to be made at the right time."
This year the team should feature a strong defense and a deep bench.
"Our guards have done a great job pressuring the ball, and our posts have dominated the glass. With our roster, I feel like I have 5-6 guys coming off the bench who could be starters on previous teams," Ellis said.
Cameron Martin led the Eagles against Greenville with 15 points. Other scorers were Robert Mott 12, Gaitlin Parr 8, Tramayne Henry 7, Riley Davis 6, Armaan Charaniya 5, Nic Cahill 2, and Tyler Opfar 1.
Martin was also the leading scorer in the Denton Ryan game with 10 points. Other scorers were Tramayne Henry 7, Armaan Charaniya 6, Riley Davis 5, Gatlin Parr 5, Matt DeWall 3, and Robert Mott 2.
This week the Eagles will play Carrollton Creekview on Friday night and Wylie East next Monday. Ellis said Creekview is the team expected to win District 10-4A.
