Seventeen Prosper High School athletes last week signed letters of intent to continue playing sports in college.

The players are:

Baseball — Lance Brooks - Brookhaven; Zach Kubala - Northlake; Brandon Grudzielanek - Abilene Christian University; Aaron Varden - Grayson; and Jace Vines - Weatherford.

Golf — Clifford Freeman - Ranger College; Anne Stiles - University of Arkansas (Ft. Smith).

Men’s Soccer — Andrew Alies - Hardin Simmons University.

Women’s Soccer — Taylor Cavanaugh - Bethany College.

Softball — Haley Wilkerson - Ouachita Baptist University

Swimming — Roman Rivas - Wayland Baptist University

Football —Brandon Behrens - Southwestern (Georgetown); Trent Dillard - University of Mary Hardin Baylor; Money Hunter - Arkanssas State University; Darius McClinton-Hunter - SE Louisiana University; Trevor Melugin - Missouri Valley State; and Nathan Scoggins - Concordia University.

After the event last Wednesday morning, Brandon Behrens said, "I’m going to miss being around the coaches and players, they’ve been like my second family. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me. I’m going to try to earn a starting spot."

Swimmer Roman Rivas said he will also miss the family atmosphere at PHS but looks forward to learning new things. "College is going to be different because there will be a lot of competition. I can’t say I’m a rookie anymore so I’m going to have to really step up my game. I’m coming in young. I want to work to stand out."
