Cooper Anderson passed away at the age 13 on Nov. 25, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer. Cooper was diagnosed with Gliomatosis Cerebri. Cooper was a patient at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and UT Southwestern.
Cooper was born July 27, 2000 in Plano, Texas to Daniel Anderson and Myra Petsch Anderson. Cooper had been a lifetime resident of Prosper.
Cooper was a seventh grader at Reynolds Middle School. Cooper attended other Prosper schools including Rucker Elementary, Folsom Elementary, and Rogers Middle School.
Cooper achieved many accomplishments in his short life. At the age of 11, after 3½ years of mixed martial arts training, Cooper earned his black belt through USA Martial Arts in Prosper. Cooper started in scouting in the first grade, and Cooper was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 1013 of Prosper. Cooper earned the rank of Eagle Scout on July 16, 2013. For his Eagle Scout project, Cooper and his fellow scouts made and delivered 35 "no sew" fleece blankets to Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Cooper was sworn in as an Honorary Firefighter of Plano Fire Rescue on May 1, an Honorary NYPD detective on May 13, and an Honorary Firefighter of the FDNY on May 14.
Cooper was preceded in death by grandfathers Russell D. Anderson and John A. Petsch. Survivors include his parents Daniel and Myra Anderson; sister, Mackenzie Anderson of Prosper; grandparents Ruddie Anderson of Holly Lake Ranch and Frances Petsch of McKinney; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
A memorial service and mass for Daniel Cooper Anderson was held on Dec. 2, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas. Pallbearers were the Plano Fire Rescue Honor Guard.
