The Cory Ausenbaugh Memorial Run was held on Oct. 12. The money raised from the run is used to provide a scholarship to a graduating Prosper High School graduating Senior who will be pursuing a degree in education. Many Prosper ISD employees and students came out to support the event. The Cory Ausenbaugh Memorial Scholarship was started by members of the Prosper Fire Fighters Association after Cory Ausenbaugh, wife of Fire Marshal Bryan Ausenbaugh, tragically passed away unexpectedly from a sudden stroke.
"The idea grew from a single scholarship for a graduating senior, to a non-profit charity organization dedicated to also raising scholarship funds for the children of firefighters, police officers and school employees of the Prosper community who pass away" said Firefighter David Yarbrough, president of the Foundation. The foundation raises funds through the 5k race, auctions and donations.
