It is that time of year again. Prosper Theatre kicks off their show season on Oct. 24, with a hilarious musical that is sure to entertain. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a musical that shows the funnier side of youth and competition. With two separate casts, alternating performance nights, this show is sure to be an enjoyable experience every performance. Performance dates are Oct. 24-26, Oct. 30, and Nov. 1-2. Every date has a show at 6:30 p.m., with matinee shows at 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. All performances are at the Prosper High school Auditorium.

Following "The 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee," Prosper Theatre plans to put on "Anatomy of Gray." This play follows a young doctor, who is battling his inner demons of science versus religion. However, the town is diseased and is in desperate need of help. This is an excellent play that is both sad and often humorous.

Next semester, Prosper Theatre will be putting up three one act plays, including their UIL one-act play "Taking Leave," a tragic family drama that showcases a family dealing with Alzheimer’s. Prosper Theatre looks to, not only put on quality performances this year, but also to make an impact.

Currently the Prosper Theatre Company students are coordinating a food drive to help feed the hungry on Thanksgiving. Later this year, Prosper Theatre will be putting on a children’s show for elementary students around the district, looking to entertain and teach the kids about the joys of theatre and performance.
