From Staff Reports

Future architects, engineers and inventors can get a head start on their careers by enrolling in the Prosper Parks and Recreation-sponsored Bricks 4 Kidz summer camps, according to Parks and Recreation Manager Will Mitchell.

"Prosper is partnering with Bricks 4 Kidz of Frisco to offer six separate summer camps starting on July 8. The camps are designed for either 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Parents or guardians may opt to enroll their kids in any or all six camps," he said.

The camps are specifically designed for children from 5 to 13 years of age, and will be held in the activity room of the First Baptist Church of Prosper, 601 South Church Street. The camps have a fast, varied pace with guided projects and challenges as well as time for free-play. The goal is for participating children to be constantly entertained and

engaged. Screened, trained Bricks 4 Kidz staff provide qualified supervision.

"Kids who are enrolled in both the morning and afternoon sessions should bring a sack lunch or have their lunch delivered by family members. The staff, which is the same for both sessions, will have their lunch from noon to 1 p.m. each day," he said.

At the close of each camper’s first week of camp, they will receive a Bricks 4 Kidz Camp T-shirt and mini-figure.

For those attending more than one camp during this summer, they will get to choose another camp souvenir from the camp’s prize box.

Prices vary per camp and are listed on www.bricks4kidz.com/frisco. Discounts are available for early registration, siblings, and multiple camps. Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to cancel any camp for lack of enrollment.

The first camp, Brick Ninja, is running this week from 9 a.m. to noon.

Beginning next Monday, the morning session from July 15 through 19 is Superhero Academy. And, that week’s afternoon session is Movie Making 101.

Finally, the morning session from July 29 through Aug. 2 is Amusement Park Adventure. The last camp during the afternoons of that week is Junior Robotics.

There are no camps scheduled for the week of July 22.

"Prosper Parks and Recreation is planning to offer many more active and passive programs as we get the infrastructure and staffing. New and established residents have inquired about all types of recreation programs for families, seniors, mom and toddler interactive programs, adult softball, and many others. We hope to get moving in that

direction in the near future," concluded Mitchell.
