From Staff Reports

The Prosper Fire Department is opening its doors on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to welcome Town residents to its annual Open House, according to Fire Chief Ronnie Tucker.

The Central Fire Station is located at 1500 East First Street, midway between Preston Road and La Cima Blvd., directly under the water tower in the south central portion of the Town.

The Fire Department Open House officially initiates Fire Prevention Week in Prosper during which firefighters and paramedics will conduct educational and informational events and activities to promote fire prevention and safety.

Activities planned for the Oct. 5 Open House include live demonstrations of various techniques and practices put on by the Prosper firefighters, displays of working fire trucks, guided tours of the station, a bounce house in the shape of a fire truck and a variety of games and activities for kids.

Refreshments and hot dogs will be served, free of charge, during the event while supplies last.

"The dedication of the firefighters and paramedics of the Fire Department is what’s really on display. The apparatus we use, the equipment we wear, the emergency vehicles we drive are all wonderful, but without the unquestioned dedication of the people who use the apparatus, don the equipment and operate the vehicles, we could not be effective. I simply can’t say enough about the quality of our department’s personnel," said the Chief.

To accommodate the growth of the Town, the Fire Department has begun the process of identifying alternate locations for new fire stations, having decided to establish the next fire station on the Town’s west side.

Prosper residents are invited to come to the Open House and meet the firefighters and paramedics, see the equipment and observe how they carry out their service to the community.
