DENTON — Forbes magazine recently published its list of America’s Best Employers and the University of North Texas is right at the top, ranking fourth in Texas.

“I love working for the University of North Texas and it’s rewarding to know that others in the business community see us as a caring, fair and high-value employer,” UNT President Neal Smatresk said. “UNT values our faculty and staff members and is always working to improve their experiences. This recognition from Forbes motivates us to continue our goal to become a Best Place to Work.”

UNT is proud to be ranked fourth in the state, behind cutting-edge industry leaders USAA, Southwest Airlines and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

UNT also is listed as seventh in the education industry in the United States and the 40th best employer overall. The university employs 4,500 faculty and staff members.

Each year, Forbes ranks employers based on surveys that ask employees to nominate companies outside of their industry and whether or not they would recommend their own company as a good place to work. This year, the magazine partnered with Statista, a research company, to survey about 30,000 Americans working at companies with more than 1,000 employees.
