Hillcrest Elementary celebrated Literacy Night on Wednesday, April 3. The theme for the evening was camping and outdoor activities, and judging from the crowd, it was a huge success, according to school officials.

Parents, relatives, students and community members were introduced to activities that students are doing in school to promote literacy and improve reading ability.

Reading at an early age is so important in school and helps with academic success in later grades.

In addition to literacy activities, everyone was treated to dinner in the cafeteria and S’mores outside for dessert. Hillcrest Elementary is always thankful for community involvement and will hold these type of community events often.
