MC KINNEY — McKinney ISD will open their new 12,000 seat stadium in August with the first-annual McKinney Football Classic. The showcase event will begin on Thursday, Aug. 30 with McKinney taking on McKinney North. McKinney Boyd will play Rowlett on Friday, Aug. 31 and Garland Naaman Forest will take on Prosper in the final game on Saturday, Sept. 1.
McKinney ISD broke ground on the new facility, which is located on State Highway 121, in December of 2016. The state-of-the-art stadium includes the largest true HD video board in a Texas high school stadium, 4 locker rooms, 2482 parking spaces, and a 6,300-square-foot community events center.
“We feel as though this is one of the premiere stadiums in the country and we can’t wait for our McKinney community and football fans throughout the Metroplex to see it for the first time at the McKinney Football Classic. This will be a great event, featuring three outstanding games and all of the pageantry that comes with Texas high school football,” said McKinney ISD Athletic Director Shawn Pratt.
