The Prosper Mighty Eagle Band traveled to San Antonio on Wednesday, Nov. 8 for the UIL 5A State Marching Competition.
Over 250 5A bands from the state of Texas competed for a chance to make it to the state contest, but only 34, including Prosper, made the cut.
In the preliminary round of the competition, Prosper placed in the top 10, securing a spot in the final round.
Prosper was ranked in the top 10 among bands such as Dripping Springs, Waxahachie, Wakeland and Cedar Park, all of which have been to the state finals before.
Prosper had a little under two hours to prepare for their finals performance — the one that would determine the best band in Texas.
All the bands filled the field of the Alamodome for finals retreat where they and their directors learned their placement in the final round.
Prosper took 7th overall in the finals round, receiving a composite score of 34.
After their whirlwind run at the state contest, they will be performing in Indianapolis, Indiana at Bands of America Grand Nationals this weekend.
