In two days, on two separate traffic stops, Alice police have confiscated 270 grams of synthetic marijuana, 48 grams of cocaine and $2,300 in US currency.

On Wednesday, Officer Brandon Reynolds conducted a traffic stop on the 200 block of Fifth Street and made contact with 33-year-old Ismael Martinez Jr.

When Reynolds patted Martinez down for officer safety he discovered $2,300 in his pocket, Reynolds said. A search of Martinez's vehicle was conducted. In the glove box was the 48 grams of cocaine.

Martinez was placed in the patrol unit and became combative. He was transported to the Jim Wells County jail where he was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

On Tuesday, Office Rene Garcia was dispatched to the 1900 block of East Main Street in reference to a man asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle. As the officer was in route, he was notified that the driver had moved the car to a residence on the 400 block of East Fourth Street.

When Garcia arrived he identified the driver as Jose Angel Espinoza and two passengers Roel Lazo and Damien Rodriguez. Espinoza was looking in a brown bag when the officer approached. When questioned about the contents of the bag he admitted to having synthetic marijuana, according to the police report. Twenty-three bags of synthetic marijuana totaling 270 grams.

All three men were transported to the JWC jail. They were charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.
