The Prosper High School Mighty Eagle Band made history on Saturday, Oct. 38 by earning second place overall in the UIL Area B Area Marching Contest and advancing to the state marching contest.

The contest consisted of two rounds, a preliminary round and a final round. Only 10 out of the 24 bands in the preliminary round make it to the finals. Bands were given a ranking of first through tenth in two categories — music and marching — and the rankings were tallied up with the lower the score, the better.

In the preliminary round, Prosper placed second out of the 24 bands, which secured them a spot in the final round later that evening.

Prosper faced tough competition in the final round, competing against bands such as Frisco Wakeland, one of the top 5A bands in the state. Only the top three (out of the remaining ten) bands in the final round will advance to the State Contest.

The Mighty Eagle Band prevailed and came in second overall in finals. This is the first time in program history that the band has advanced to the state contest.

The UIL State Marching Contest will be held from Nov. 6-8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.
