Approximately four pounds of packaged marijuana and two marijuana plants were confiscated from a residence on County Road 160-1 Sunday.

Jim Wells County Sheriff Deputies were called to the residence for a disturbance. During the course of the investigation deputies observed two five feet marijuana plants growing in the backyard, according to Lt. Alan Gonzalez with the JWC Sheriff's Office. Deputies immediately called the narcotic detective.

With consent from the homeowner Lt. Ernie Riviera and deputies searched the home and located the packaged marijuana inside a storage room, according to sheriff officials.

Deputies arrested Pablo Alaniz Sr., 53, for possession of marijuana and transported to the JWC jail.

Due to the marijuana cultivation, deputies are investigating the believe there may be more arrests, according to Gonzalez.

"Good police work on behalf of the patrol division and the CID/Narcotic Division," Gonzalez stated. "The guys were able to distinguish the marijuana plants. Good police work gets these issues resolved."
