Dick’s Sporting Goods expects to hire 175 full-time, part-time and temporary positions for its upcoming Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream in Prosper, expected to open in August.

The Prosper location will be the 12th store in the country that features a Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream under one roof. The store is approximately 90,000 square-feet. Many have already seen the massive structure through various stages of construction in the Gates of Prosper located at 380 and Lovers Lane.

The new location expects to hire a total of approximately 125 full-time and part-time associate positions as well as up to 50 temporary positions. With an expected opening day sometime in August, store operators are eager to get new employees hired and trained.

Michelle Billardello, community marketing manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods, explained why she believes Prosper is an ideal location for the new store.

“Prosper has a thriving community that is passionate about both sports and the outdoors,” Billardello said in an email. “This is a perfect combination for us to open our newest location that houses both a Dick’s and Field & Stream under one roof. We believe customers here will be thrilled with our extensive selection and find that they can make this store a one-stop-shop for all their needs. We continuously work to offer the best assortment of products based on our customers’ needs and tailor each store to the local community.”

As of April 29, 2017, the company operated more than 690 Dick’s Sporting Goods locations across the United States. Founded in 1948, the company deals mainly in sports and outdoors equipment and apparel.

“We’re very excited to have them,” Mayor Ray Smith said. “The sooner they open, the better. It should be right before school starts, which will be great and will generate a lot of sales tax. A lot parents and kids are really going to enjoy it. It’s exciting times for Prosper. What better sporting goods to have? They’re a great company.”
