Prosper Independent School District Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Mike Goddard has been named the lone finalist to secure the superintendent position at Red Oak ISD in Ellis County. Goddard came to Prosper in 2010 after serving as the first Lovejoy High School Principal.
“My journey in Prosper ISD might be coming to an end, but the friendships that I have built over the past seven years will remain,” Goddard said in an email. “I am extremely blessed and excited about my new opportunity and what’s ahead in Red Oak ISD. It is not just a job, but a mission. Making connections, encouraging others, and doing what is best for the students has been my guiding philosophy from the beginning and I plan to continue this as Superintendent of Red Oak ISD. I want to see students and staff be successful in all that they do and to grow as individuals.”
Drew Watkins, superintendent for PISD, expressed sadness on behalf of the district in losing Goddard in his excerpt from the Eagle Express.
“Selfishly, I wish Dr. Goddard would stay with Prosper forever,” Watkins said in the newsletter. “But he has been afforded a great opportunity to begin a new chapter in his leadership. The kids know him as my bodyguard (ha!), but he has been a great teammate and friend for the last seven years. Many will be sad about his departure – I choose to celebrate and simply be thankful for his time in Prosper.”
There is no news at this time as to who his successor might be, but Goddard said the replacement would assuredly be an excellent fit for the district.
“The district has begun the process of finding an Assistant Superintendent,” he said. “That will help guide Prosper ISD as it continues to grow and to be an amazing district.”
