The Prosper Town Council voted on two public hearing agenda items at the council meeting on March 28.

The first item, a variance to the sign ordinance for a residential development, was approved unanimously. The variance allows for a Grenadier Homes sign to be put up directly in front of one of the model townhomes.

The second item, a proposal for the multipurpose field striping at Frontier Park, was also approved unanimously. Multiple attempts were made to reach an agreement with the Prosper Youth Sports Commission due to “issues with color alignment,” town staff said. Each sport, including lacrosse, soccer and football, requires different striping on the field. The final meeting that took place on March 15 facilitated an agreement for the various striping colors and layout.

“Lacrosse agreed to be okay with the blue lines, the Carolina blue, to allow soccer to be able to use the yellow lines,” town staff said. “Football will stay the white lines.”

The fields will be used by the Prosper Youth Sports Commission teams including Prosper Little League and Prosper Area Soccer Organization. The commission is comprised of recreational youth sports associations which are volunteer service organizations that manage youth athletic leagues, according to the town website.

Town staff is hoping that the fields at Frontier Park will be open for fall sports of 2017, but that date may change based on construction, Prosper Landscape Architect Paul Naughton said.
