A second supermarket has committed to building in Prosper, the fast-growing suburb north of Frisco and McKinney.

Market Street said it has secured real estate for future development in Prosper with Dallas-based Shop Companies.

The location, which is on the northeast corner of Coit Road and Highway 380, is about 4 miles south of the Kroger Marketplace that opened in March 2016. It will be just across the town of Prosper border with Frisco.

“At this time there are no immediate plans for construction,” said Mary Myers, spokeswoman for Market Street. Idaho-based Albertsons LLC purchased Market Street’s parent company Lubbock-based United Supermarkets in 2013.

Market Street will anchor the Village at Prosper, a proposed development that Shop Companies said on its website will also have a CVS and pads for nine more stores and restaurants.

The one-mile population around the proposed center has an average annual household income of $105,421 and average home values of $316,002, according to Shop Companies.

Since 2012, the town of Prosper has issued 2,218 single-family residential permits.

The Prosper store will be the eighth Market Street in North Texas. The other stores are in Allen, Colleyville, Coppell, Flower Mound, Frisco, McKinney and Plano.
