The Eagle 5K and 1 mile Fun Run will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Rogers Middle School in Prosper. The event is a fundraiser for the Lorene Rogers Middle School Parent/Teacher Organization. The PTO is the group responsible for raising funds for student and staff programs.
This year will be the third time the event has been held. Last year’s event was host to 200 participants, raising a total of $12,700. Some of the proceeds were used to purchase the TV in the rotunda of the school, the purpose of which is to display student achievements.
Sponsors have until Feb. 28 to submit their information and payments. There are two levels of sponsorship available. The funds collected will be put towards providing education assemblies, field trip scholarships, advanced security devices and more for Rogers Middle School.
The event will be open to the entire community and will provide visibility for sponsors and strengthen the bonds of the Prosper community. There will be vendors available during the race in the Eagle Marketplace.
“These events are very important,” Jeena John, Rogers Middle School parent and Eagle 5K volunteer, said. “We need to be able to get proper equipment and learning tools to prepare our kids for the future. It starts with us, the parents, and the community.”
