Nearly 800 partygoers dressed in their best Western threads headed to ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship for its ninth annual Gala at the ‘Gait held on Oct. 1. The event, themed “Soar On Wings Like Eagles,” was presented by Stereo East Home Theater and held on the grounds of the nonprofit organization’s equestrian therapy program.
Guests arrived at ManeGait’s riding arena and were greeted by ManeGait therapy riders and horses, reminding everyone of the meaning and impact of the event, which alone raises 40 percent of the organization’s operating budget.
The co-founders of ManeGait, the Darling family, greeted guests. Landon Darling Schneider served as this year’s event chair and was joined by her husband Zach Schneider and her parents Pris and Bill Darling. The early part of the evening was devoted to mixing and mingling, browsing luxury auction items and taking a virtual culinary road trip, thanks to selections served by 18 North Texas restaurants donating cuisine to the cause.
During the event’s live auction, a good-spirited bidding war erupted over VIP packages, including experiences with the Dallas Cowboys and at The Master’s in 2017. The result was the most successful auction in the Gala’s history. Following the auction, Texas artist Charla Corn took to the stage, where she crooned to guests on the dance floor.
Monies raised at Gala at the ‘Gait will be used to provide therapeutic horsemanship to help children and adults with disabilities to move beyond their boundaries through the healing power of the horse and the dedication of a professional, caring community. This year’s event theme, “Soar On Wings Like Eagles,” recalls Isaiah 40:31 and ManeGait’s mission to lift up individuals with disabilities. The verse reads, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.”
