The first ever local outdoor concert will be held on Friday, May 5, on the front steps of Prosper High School. The event will run from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The entire Prosper community is invited to come out and enjoy the music of the Big Band Era as well as some funk, rock n’ roll, and Latin charts.
“Jazz on the Steps,” will be an outdoor venue for the jazz bands from Reynolds Middle School, Rogers Middle School and Prosper High School to showcase the sounds of various types of jazz. These three jazz bands recently attended the TCU Jazz Festival where several musicians from each band were recognized.
In addition, the newest PHS ensemble, “The Iron Eagles,” Prosper’s very own Steel Drum Band, will bring the Caribbean to Prosper. Also available during the evening will be food from area food trucks for purchase, Kona Ice snow cones, as well as games for the kids to play.
All donations and proceeds will go directly towards supporting the Reynolds and Rogers Middle School and Prosper High School Bands. There is no charge for admission, so grab a lawn chair and a friend and arrive early to get a good spot. This event will be moved to the PHS cafeteria if there is inclement weather.
