Lady Eagles Win Two More in Spite of Cold

From Staff Reports

This past week had the Lady Eagles take on two more opponents with tournament season coming to a close. First up was Princeton on Tuesday night with both the JV and Varsity teams taking the field. The JV started things off on the right foot and controlled the game from whistle to whistle. Using some great passing and teamwork the JV Lady Eagles were able to score early and often and take a commanding lead into halftime. The second half saw more of the same and when the dust settled the JV Lady Eagles had taken the game 8-0. Up next was the Varsity Lady Eagles and they looked to build on the successes of the JV squad. A quick goal to start the game helped the Lady Eagles take a 1-0 lead. Prosper controlled possession and had many more opportunities to score, but the Princeton keeper did a good job of keep the score close at halftime. The second half saw more of the same control by the Lady Eagles and the girls were able to get another goal in the second half. When the final whistle blew, the Lady Eagles took home the victory 2-0. It was another clean sweep for the JV and Varsity Lady Eagles.

Friday brought a new opponent and new weather. Due to travel concerns for Carrolton RL Turner, the JV game was canceled and only the Varsity match was played. The snow and sleet would definitely play havoc on the game, but the Lady Eagles remained focused on the task at hand. The cold weather couldn't keep the girls from getting off to a hot start. Three quick goals saw the Lady Eagles jump ahead in commanding fashion. RL Turner was able to squeeze one in before halftime and the Lady Eagles took a 3-1 lead into the half. The second half saw more snow and sleet and two teams battling it out in the slick conditions. Some great back and forth gave both teams great chances to score, but in the end it was the Lady Eagles who would prevail. At the end of the game the scoreboard read 4-2 in favor of the Lady Eagles. After this week's action the JV's record is now 2-0 and the Varsity's record is 10-3-1.

On Friday both teams will travel to Wichita Falls to take on WF Rider. Game times are 5:30 and 7:15 respectively.
